Our man in Singapore

Andy has spent the last two weeks in Singapore, working with our friends at the Tanglin Trust Infant and Junior Schools, both graded as outstanding in their last Ofsted inspections.

During the two weeks he worked with Senior Leadership Teams, Heads of Curriculum, Heads of Year and teaching staff to support an ongoing process of curriculum review and development. Areas of focus included mastery level provision and the role of questions and questioning techniques to promote this. He also worked with staff in the Infant School on development of Lesson Study, a process involving peer coaching and mentoring, lesson observation and feedback. Meetings with teachers in the Junior School focused on year group units plans, curriculum provision and assessment without levels.
‘It was a privilege and pleasure to be back in the school’, said Andy. ‘This was my fifth visit and as ever, it’s great to work with such a high calibre staff, who inspire and challenge in equal measure.’
The visit was rounded off by two performances of Andy’s one-man show, ‘A Dickensian Christmas’!
