“The whole day was inspirational. I had heard Chris deliver this course last year hence why I booked him for the whole staff! I wasn’t disappointed in the least. He brings a very ‘sensible’ approach to curriculum planning which is exactly what we need. I have a very young/ inexperienced staff who are used to QCA Units and the National Strategy. There are only a handful of us who have ever done any curriculum planning and that was a long time ago! The staff were enthused and we were fortunate to have a further INSET day the following Monday where we got straight to work and have a skeleton plan for the next 2 years."
“I just wanted to write to say how much my SLT enjoyed the conference with Chris Quigley. We came back to school inspired! Many thanks for such a successful day."
“Excellent. Practical, good common sense educational thinking supported by refreshing ideas and put into a manageable framework."
“The whole day was of exceptional quality. Chris provided the staff with inspirational thinking around how children learn. He has provided much food for thought that will support future staff INSET and decision making for both our schools."
“I had classified the day as a ‘blue sky thinking’ day for staff and it certainly proved to be this. The messages that staff have been given over the past 12 months regarding a flexibility of approach meeting the personalised learning needs of our pupils has been given the rubber stamp by a passionate expert and will support us moving our schools provision towards that of consistently good and beyond."
“He was inspirational for us all and has given us a great deal of motivation to continue our quest for improvement."
“All of it. It was exactly what we needed to focus us on the best way of completing the SEF. I can’t thank Chris enough!! It gave us confidence that we were on the right track but also gave some excellent advice on what would make it better."
“Thanks for all Chris' help with my SEF. After the day he was here my Deputy and I revisited the parts we had already done and re-wrote them with Chris' advice in mind. The lead inspector said it was the best SEF he had seen, which is largely down to our day with Chris."
“The whole morning was equally useful, vibrant and thought provoking. The right balance of time to chat, think, discuss and learn was used, as was the balance of new knowledge and experience. The anecdotes were a great way to lift people's spirits and to fix their understanding through contextual understanding."
“Chris working hands on with staff, this moved the learning and understanding of the staff on at an accelerated pace. The organisation of the two days enabled the training to be personalised for the school."
“Clear, well presented and linked to ‘where our school is’ at the minute - areas were built in based on prior info given to Chris so the presentation built on developments we had been making recently as a school. The pitch of the training was appropriate for both teachers and teaching assistants and the feedback from staff was that they had all learnt something and that they can become great teachers if they want to! The training was well organised and gave real examples of things that make teaching great and small manageable tips that can lead to improvements in teaching and learning - both on individual teacher level as well as some more whole school ideas for improvement. Really useful handout which gave outline. Thank you!”
“Both the morning and afternoon sessions were excellent. As a result of the secondary school receiving their ‘phone call’ from OFSTED on the day of the training Chris changed the format of the afternoon to meet the needs of the primary schools who were there. Chris’s delivery and presentation was clear and coherent and showed a very good awareness of the needs of his audience. He was both thought provoking and entertaining as well as letting the passion that he has for what he does shine through.”
“Clear presentation delivered with humour and passion”
“Interaction and Chris’s views and different interpretation of things - innovative.”
“Session on planning, linking skills based curriculum with new initiatives, engaging and amusing delivery.”
“What makes a great teacher, focus on positive not negative, time for discussion on reflection, learning and how children learn and not ticking boxes, reflecting on the big picture, developing questioning skills, clarification on AFL, new curriculum information, clarification we are on the right track as a school.”
“The whole presentation was presented in a down to earth very practical way which all staff including support staff found very useful and inspiring.”
“Practical and down to earth, all staff felt Chris understood the pressure of day to day school, the way in which skills based curriculum can be developed alongside existing good practice.”
“The overview of how trends have come and done in teaching and the reasons why, the examples of planning and how to make the links between subjects.”
“This gives us the valuable opportunities to evaluate our current practice and analyse what we actually need to do in order to raise standards. The staff training session was extremely beneficial in uniting the staff to realise that changes must be made in order to raise standards, practice and provision.”
“Everything, Chris gave us was ’food for thought’ throughout the twilight sessions. Some of the issues raised we were pleased to think we already “did that”, while other issues challenged me to rethink why we did some things and why we weren’t doing others.”
“The sessions involved everyone so I don’t feel my support staff felt out of their depth or left out.”
“Having time to discuss the points made by Chris and being able to relate them to our own circumstances.”
“Having time in the afternoon to tailor the training to our own needs.”
“Useful exploration of CVA, accessible delivery, given time to discuss after explanations, use fitting tools, additional support SEF.”
“Given staff confidence to think more creatively about the curriculum, seeing the process as an evolution of our current curriculum.”
“Emphasis on the opportunity to practice skills in context, opportunity to consider what we think is important as a school and realizing that we have the freedom to act upon this.”
“Chris’s engaging and enthusiastic delivery which made it all seem very manageable.”
“Staff thought the skills progression was useful and the points made about “core skills” threading across the curriculum, suggested resources also useful.”
“Lots of time for reflection and discussion.”
“Practical examples especially short term planning.”
“Focus on development of skills.”
“Viewing schemes of work.”
“Clarity of communication.”
“Multitude of ideas.”
“Levelled thinking skills, key attributes pupils need to learn, creative ideas to inspire. Listening to a different approach to the creative curriculum which emphasises for us the importance of adopting a school based approach rather than be bombarded with a scheme. Opportunities to discuss with staff members from local schools on aspects of the course.”
“Two sided argument e.g., looked at pitfalls as well as positive aspects, very centered around a personalised base.”
“Give us the justification to follow our own skills based creative curriculum.”
“1st session was very inspiring in considering ways to create an innovative curriculum.”
“Ideas for end of topics, realistic approach and examples.”
“Whole day was beneficial and supported us in what we already do.”
“Chris has the ability to encourage people to reflect on the change in their practice in a very practical, non-threatening way.”

The only slight problem encountered was not being able to download a document properly but this was quickly remedied through a hard copy being sent and being received the next day!
