When developing the primary curriculum, I have been concerned that some schools are being encouraged to adopt complicated structures such as mapping the national curriculum against the foundation stage six areas of learning.
Although there is no real reason why not to do this, there is also very little reason for doing it. This process does not change the curriculum in any way, it just re brands it. It is still the skills progression in each subject that remains the issue for many schools.
How can we ensure progression in the programmes of study. For example: In using globes, maps and plans at a range of scales (geography). My new book shows progression in this and every other statement of the national curriculum (except English and maths). You can preview it on our products page.
